Helius Energy Appoints Planning Director

Biomass-to-power company Helius Energy plc (Helius Energy) has appointed Paul Brighton as Planning Director.

Helius Energy plc yesterday appointed Paul Brighton to the position of Planning Director. In his new role, Paul will oversee the consenting process for the company’s development programme for biomass fuelled electricity generating stations including implementation of Helius Energy’s first 65 MW biomass power plant at Stallingborough in North East Lincolnshire. He will also help the company to identify additional sites for future electricity generation and combined heat and power schemes.

As former Planning Director for Savills, Paul has 20 years experience of industrial planning processes, in particular energy and nfrastructure developments in the United Kingdom and overseas.

John Seed, Helius Managing Director, said: “Having worked with Paul on our developments at Rothes in Scotland and Stallingborough in North East Lincolnshire, we are delighted to welcome him to the company. He brings a wealth of experience of planning procedures and will be an invaluable asset to help Helius Energy fulfil our plans for development.”

Paul Brighton added: “There is a huge challenge in front of us to secure energy through more environmentally sustainable means and this will require substantial new investment in plant. Helius is committed to a development programme based on biomass, a renewable source of energy, and I look forward to assisting the company in bringing these projects forward through the consenting process.”
