Board Appointment

Helius Energy plc, an AIM listed company established to install and operate biomass-fired renewable electricity generation plants, is pleased to announce the appointment of Demetri Haralambos Pappadopoulos (aged 37) to the Board with immediate effect. Mr Pappadopoulos joins as Non-Executive Director with responsibility for Southern Africa.

Commenting on the appointment Alex Worrall, Chairman, said:
"We are absolutely delighted that Demetri has chosen to join the Helius Energy plc main board. He is an influential business leader and will bring his undoubted personal drive and passion for the bio-energy sector to assist Helius achieve its ambitious roll-out targets in Southern Africa".

Helius Energy is working to develop a range of biomass-fired renewable energy plants in Southern Africa. Southern Africa is facing an ever-growing energy crisis with countries such as South Africa having current power output close to installed capacity and the use of biomass is forecast to increase significantly. The following information is disclosed in respect of Mr Pappadopoulos, pursuant to Schedule 2 paragraph (g) of the AIM rules.
