On 10 March 2006 Helius Energy established its Southern African business with the formation of Helius Energy Africa (pty) Ltd. The company aims to operate existing and develop new build renewable energy plant across Southern Africa, providing a significant contribution to greenhouse gas reduction and control targets.
Helius Energy Chairman, Alex Worrall said, "We are confident that a major contribution will be made to providing electricity to meet the growing energy requirements of Southern Africa, whilst also making a difference to climate change control."
Working with a local team to build on links established within the energy sector, the company plans to support Southern Africa’s growing need for energy. Helius Energy has already developed senior connections in South Africa, Zambia and Swaziland and is looking to build on these so as to make a positive contribution to the economic development of the region.
